Flow and aeroacoustic attributes of highly-heated transitional rectangular supersonic jets

چکیده

Heated transitional supersonic jets exhausting from a rectangular nozzle at over-expanded conditions are investigated by Large Eddy Simulations and Ffowcs-Williams Hawkings acoustic analogy. Four cases with fixed pressure ratio but different temperature ratios (TR) of 1.0, 2.0, 4.0, 7.0 analyzed. Numerical results show that the increasing jet velocity significantly increases, whereas its Reynolds number decreases about one order magnitude, which leads to 30% decrease in potential core length reduction shock cells. The temperatures also result shear layer convection Mach numbers consequently wave radiations fields. Pressure skewness kurtosis factors indicate crackle noise non-linear propagation effects high temperatures. For most heated TR 7.0, radiation is identified radiating 120 degrees, while large turbulence structure 150 degrees. Furthermore, vortex sheet model analysis LES data detect existence upstream-propagating neutral waves inside 7.0. observed screech frequency falls within range antisymmetric mode indicating highly-heated characterized an oscillation frequency.

Flow Visualization of Angled Supersonic Jets into a Supersonic Cross Flow

This paper describes Nano-particle based Planar Laser Scattering (NPLS) flow visualization of angled supersonic jets into a supersonic cross flow based on the HYpersonic Low TEmperature (HYLTE) nozzle which was widely used in DF chemical laser. In order to investigate the non-reacting flowfield in the HYLTE nozzle, a testing section with windows was designed and manufactured. The impact of seco...

The Measurement of Skin Supersonic Flow by means of Film Gauges Friction in Heated q'hin

The application of heated thin film gauges to the measurement of mean skin friction in compressible flow is described. It is shown that the calibration of the gauges is independent of Mach number, at least up to M = 3, provided the fluid properties are calculated at the appropriate film temperature. The gauges are calibrated by reference ~ surface tubes and also by comparison with the theoretic...

Precision velocity measurements of pulsed supersonic jets.

We introduce a straightforward experimental approach for determining the mean flow velocity of a supersonic jet with very high precision. While time measurements easily can achieve accuracies of Δt/t ≤ 10(-4), typically the absolute flight distances are much less well-defined. This causes significantly increased errors in calculations of the mean flow velocity and mean kinetic energy. The basic...

Measurements of the Aeroacoustic Sound Source in Hot Jets

We have succeeded in measuring a substantial portion of the two-point space-time velocity correlation in hot, highspeed turbulent jets. This measurement, crucial in aeroacoustic theory and the prediction of jet noise, has been sought for a long time, but has not been made due to the limitations of anemometry. Particle Image Velocimetry has reached a stage of maturity where sufficient measuremen...
